Our arrival into port Nordhavn was right on 7am, the sail in was pretty, lots of wind turbines, even in the water!
We disembarked very easily and jumped on a hop on hop off bus, all day loops for €25 each. The commentary was via ear phones, and was pretty ordinary, however, we got the general idea.
We got off in town near the Tivoli Gardens and had a wander around the very large Kabenhavi Central Station. Karen needed a pit stop, but it was a pay to use loo, so, as we had a few Kroner change from a drink, we shouted her a pee! It was rather comical trying to work out what was what with the currency. I went to the ATM to get money out, and it asked me how much, so I thought yeah 100 Kroner should do us, we'll that turned out to be only about twenty bucks!
Tivoli gardens didn't open till 11 am, so we re boarded the ho ho bus and went out to see the famous Little Mermaid, and had a walk through the park. It's a very pretty area.
We then completed the bus loop, passing land marks such as Nyboder/Osterport, Amalienborg Palace, Christiana, which is its own community of hippies, they have their own currency, build their own homes, and have their own leader. Quite controversial.
Next was Rosenborg Castle, Kings Garden and the Botanic Garden. We saw the round tower, and then went to Andersens Bakery to warm up and meet up with my Woolies friend Penny (Pernilla Andersen) and her lovely dad. We had a great catch up, and enjoyed a delicious lunch with them before heading out again on the bus.
Apparently Tivoli Gardens is better at night, so we decided to give it a miss this time.
Another loop around town, so much construction is taking place everywhere. The general appearance of the city is not nearly as beautiful as Amsterdam, the exception was the Bethel, Tivoli Nyhaven area, it was like my jigsaw puzzle came to life. It's a fabulous area full of cafes and bars, people galore enjoying lunch on the Canal front. Here we also saw Hans Christian Andersen shop and a really old boat with a lighthouse on top! That was different.
Surprise surprise, we didn't have a pub stop in Copenhagen as Warren was feeling a bit seedy, but we will make up for it next time!
We returned to the ship with time to spare only to discover the dynamics of the passengers had changed dramatically ... The Muster drill was in 4 languages now. Only 600 passengers from Miami remained on board.
Sail away was terrific, beautiful sunshine, and great music. After a very chilly day, it was so nice in the sun as we bid farewell to Wonderful Wonderful Copenhagen!
Another social evening with our Aussie mates Gwen and Ray from the Mornington Peninsula, and dinner at the Aqua Restaurant.
Ready for Germany tomorrow. Berlin here we come.
We are blown away every day by what we are seeing. Yes, I have said it already, but I will say it again... WE ARE SO LUCKY !!!
